Riverview Central School Earthworm Study July 2026
On June 9 to 10, 2026, Grade 1 and 2 students at Riverview Central School participated
in an environmental science investigation designed to explore how earthworms respond
to different soil conditions. The project adapted concepts, appropriate for primary
learning level in Ontario Science Curriculum, from the internationally recognized ISO
17512 Earthworm Avoidance Test, a scientific method used by environmental scientists
to evaluate soil quality through the behavioural responses of earthworms.
